His leadership in the design of HVAC systems for varied market sectors has been marked by a focus on the local and global implications of engineering systems and how we achieve sustainable climate-conscious objectives through a holistic design approach.

Integrating advanced modeling systems with MEP design, Mr. Horch has developed energy-and carbon-reduction strategies that are flexible, feasible, and constructible. Heat pump technology, condenser water heat recovery, direct outside air systems, and onsite renewables are just a few of the solutions he has deployed. His wide-ranging work on building electrification projects includes JPMorgan Chase’s new headquarters at 270 Park Avenue, the Bronx High School of Science, Barnard College’s Roy and Diana Vagelos Science Center, the Virtua Health Mt. Holly Transformation and Stevens Institute of Technology Davis Hall. These projects are but a few of the over 15 million sq, ft. of building electrification and net zero-carbon projects within JB&B’s portfolio.

In Philadelphia, he has led the design for life science projects such as Penn Medicine’s 3600 Civic Center Boulevard Overbuild (core and shell and lab fit-outs) as well as infrastructure upgrades at The Curtis Center.

Mr. Horch earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University and is a licensed Professional Engineer; a LEED Accredited Professional; and a Certified Energy Auditor. He is a member of ASHRAE, a co-chair of the NYC Builds Bio+ Life Sciences Committee, a member of the New York City Mechanical Code Committee, and also serves as an Expert Peer Review Committee member for the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).
